| What is HarpBeat? |
HarpBeat is a musical trio featuring the only electric folk harp in Southern Ontario and Western New York. HarpBeat's wide range of instruments include electric harp, acoustic guitars, vocals, pennywhistle, flute, fife, concertina, bodhran [Irish drum], recorder, highland bagpipes, ocarina, bouzouki, and a host of other instruments.
Our sound could best be described as "Celtic Eclectic", and anything but sleepy and laid-back!
Our roots are in Celtic music, but don't be surprised if we mix in some completely different genres of music as well, all in our own unique style.
If you are looking for something more upbeat for your event than a solo harp, HarpBeat is sure to provide you with completely unique and memorable entertainment.
We perform at festivals [including the Amherst Museum Scottish Festival,the Buffalo Irish Festival, and Balls Falls Thanksgiving Festival], on the weekend evening pub circuit [including several St. Patty's day events], Robbie Burns evenings, service club evenings, restaurants, wineries, and church events.
HarpBeat has been featured on television on "A.M. Buffalo"
channel 7, and on "Crossroads" channel 13.

Who is HarpBeat?

Carol Farrar is a harpist from Niagara Falls, Ontario. She has performed all over Southern Ontario in festivals, at wineries, corporate cocktail receptions, and well over 300 weddings. Carol's c.d., "red spirit rising" has sold over 1000 copies independently and has received airplay on Canada's national radio station CBC 3, as well as WBFO' "the Celtic Hour". Carol' television appearances include "Crossroads" on channel 13, "A.M. Buffalo" WKBW channel 7. Carol's purchase of a red Lyon and Healy Silhouette Electric harp prompted her to explore new musical avenues, and "HarpBeat" was born!

Monte Jones is based out of Youngstown, New york. He has many years of performance experience having performed in over 11 diverse bands. As a former member of 'Heirloom', he toured the U.K.,and performed at top festival venues throughout the country. His distinctive style of virtuoso guitar-playing adds a strong percussive edge to HarpBeat's signature sound. Monte's astounding vocal range and pure tenor vocal tone often lead the audience to ask, "How does he do that ?" [Monte is also an accomplished actor, so don't forget to ask him about his movie career!]

Marcia Jones is also based out of Youngstown, New York. She is an accomplished and versatile vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, with a particular talent for all wind instruments. Marcia has many years of musical performing experience, including touring the U.K. at top festival venues. Her ability to use her vocal versatility to bring out the colour and personality of any piece, adds much to the HarpBeat sound. Marcia's winning sense of humour and between-song patter is guaranteed to make your audience smile! |
